On November 18, 2021 at around 1:30 pm they entered the Verizon store located on Kingston Pike where one distracted the clerk while the other walked out with an iPhone 13 Pro Max. They were both wearing Cincinnati Reds hats, with one having dreads and darker skin and the other lighter skin.

Help Identify 2 Thieves

The Knoxville Police Department is asking for help identifying these two individuals who made several attempts to check-in to area hotels using a stolen debit card. On October 11, 2021 our victim’s car was broken into and her wallet containing her debit card was stolen. Shortly thereafter, four unsuccessful attempts at 4 different hotels were made along Merchants Road to get a room.

Do you recognize these four individuals? On November 6, 2021 at around 8 pm they entered a store located at 6710 Papermill Drive, Knoxville. They then went throughout the store gathering cosmetics and fragrances valued at over $2,500 then left without paying. They are described as a Middle Eastern male and 3 three Middle Eastern females. Each of the females had black hair and were wearing black track suits.

Over $10,000 in Tools & Products Stolen

Do you recognize this person or have you seen this vehicle, 2005-2010 maroon Jeep Grand Cherokee? The license plate on the Jeep was stolen off of a van prior to this suspect continuing his crime spree. On November 1, 2021 between 2:30 am and 4:30 am this person was caught on camera breaking into several vehicles at Hurst Electric located in the 8700 block of Unicorn Drive stealing tools and products valued in excess of $10,000.

SUV Stolen from TENN Student Living Apartments
October 27, 2021

STATUS: SOLVED
Knoxville Police Investigators want to know if you recognize this individual? On October 4, 2021 at around 7 am he was seen in the TENN Student Living Apartment’s parking garage, 1830 Cumberland Ave. He was then spotted leaving in a stolen white 2019 Lexis SUV then approximately 45 minutes later he was spotted in the Lexis at Pinnacle Park apartments. The vehicle was recovered on the same day at Urban Wilderness Gateway Park on Tilson Street.
 
The suspect appears to be a white male with brown hair and of average build. He is seen in these pictures wearing a white hat and either white or light colored shorts. He appears to have a tattoo of a cross on the center of his chest and a face tattoo on his upper right arm.

Close to $20,000 in Counterfeit Checks Passed

The person in these pictures has cashed close to $20,000 in counterfeit checks over the past few months. On September 9, 2021 he attempted to withdraw $5,000 from a bank account using a bank withdrawal slip and a fake driver’s license and credit card as his identification. A sharp Region’s Bank teller caught on and stopped the transaction from being completed.

Johnkelian “John-John” Mathis, 17 lost his life early Sunday morning on August 8, 2021 during a very chaotic event in Lonsdale where two other people were shot, one of which was severely beaten. Like the Knoxville Police Department and all of Knoxville the East Tennessee Valley Crime Stoppers wants to find the person or persons responsible.

CARJACKING at Planet Fitness
August 05, 2021

STATUS: CLOSED
At around 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday, August 4, 2021, KPD officers responded to 3701 Sevierville Pike in reference to a carjacking that had occurred at the Planet Fitness on Chapman Highway. Officers spoke with the victim, a 20-year-old female, who stated that she was sitting in the parking lot of the Planet Fitness when the male suspect broke the passenger side window of her vehicle. The suspect then pointed a handgun at the victim, entered her vehicle and demanded that she drive him to a location. As the suspect and victim were driving down Sevierville Pike, the victim fled from the vehicle near the SoKno Taco Cantina to seek help and the suspect got into the driver’s seat and fled north on Sevier Avenue in the victim’s vehicle.
A bulletin was issued to surrounding counties and the victim’s vehicle, a silver Volvo, was later located in Jefferson County near 11E and Whitaker Road. The suspect was reportedly seen fleeing from the area after attempting to carjack a second motorist. The suspect, who has not been located at this time, was described as a 40-50 year-old white male with a dark hair, tanned skin and a pronounced widow’s peak hairline.

Gunshot Victim Located on Riverside Drive

Victim was identified as Matthew Scott Jr, 35 

 

At around 4:40 a.m. on Friday, July 23, 2021, UTPD officers were conducting a property check on Riverside Drive when they observed an unresponsive male victim lying next to the roadway on Riverside Drive. The victim was found to be suffering from at least one gunshot wound, and KPD officers were dispatched to the scene. The victim, who has not yet been identified, was pronounced deceased on the scene. KPD Major Crimes Unit investigators and Medical Examiners Office personnel responded to the scene to begin the investigation, which remains in the preliminary stages.

Around 2:30 Wednesday morning, January 6, 2021, the Knoxville Police Department responded a shooting that occurred at the corner of Fuller Avenue and Wilder Place where they found Harry Upshaw, 44 suffering from a gunshot wound. Harry was transported to UTMC where he was pronounced deceased. KPD investigators need the communities help to give Harry’s children, parents and siblings closure and to bring the murderer to justice.

Information Sought in Case of Missing and Endangered Desheena Kyle

The Knoxville Police Department continues to ask the public for help in locating missing and endangered Desheena Kyle (26) or provide any information regarding the circumstances of her disappearance. Desheena was reported missing from Wilson Road on June 28. While she was possibly seen some time around June 23, the last verified sighting was on June 18. Investigators have strong reason to believe that Desheena could be in danger. Desheena is approximately 5’3 and 130 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. Do you recognize these two men? On June 22, 2021 at 9 am they entered 640 Liquor Store on Western Avenue in Knoxville where they proceeded to take several bottles of liquor and conceal them. After making their selections they fled the store in a white Ford Expedition with a TN handicap tag and damage to the passenger side mirror.

KPD Looking for Gay Street Robbery Suspects

On Thursday, June 3, 2021 at around 9:20 p.m., Knoxville Police Department officers responded to a robbery at 112 Gay Street. Upon arrival, officers met with the victim, a 23-year-old female, who reported she had been robbed at gunpoint. The victim stated that as she entered the Fire Street Alley, she was grabbed by an unknown suspect, who allegedly threw her up against the wall and pointed a gun at her. The victim stated there were a total of three suspects involved in the robbery, and the suspects fled out of the alley with her purse. The victim was not injured during the robbery. 

One of the suspects was described as a male wearing a green ski mask and cream or khaki colored shirt and pants, while the other two suspects were only described as wearing black ski masks. The suspects possibly fled the scene in a newer-model black Nissan Versa.
