Knoxville Fire Investigators Suspect Arson in Planned Parenthood Fire

Knoxville Fire Department investigators, along with assistance from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF), have conducted a thorough scene investigation of the December 31st fire at 710 N. Cherry Street and determined the fire to have been intentionally set. The person or persons responsible, are not in custody and have not been identified.

The Knoxville Fire Department responded to that structure fire at 6:39 a.m. and discovered flames through the roof upon arrival. 

The fact that the fire had already breached the roof indicated that the fire had been burning for some time prior to the department's arrival. It took the Knoxville Fire Department almost four hours to fully extinguish the blaze. The nearly 10,000 square foot building was under renovation at the time of the fire. This construction may have contributed to the rapid spread of the fire. The structure was a total loss despite the best efforts of the department.

"KFD's firefighters worked tirelessly last Friday to extinguish this fire, and our fire investigators, with assistance from ATF, TBI, and Knox County fire investigators, have worked meticulously over the last week and will continue to investigate this fire," said Fire Chief Stan Sharp. 

 "I want to thank all the Knoxville firefighters who battled for hours to try to save this local resource that so many women rely on," Mayor Indya Kincannon said. "I also want to express my appreciation to all of the investigators, who continue to work diligently to determine the possible cause of this fire. We are committed to finding those responsible."

Knoxville Police Investigators need help identifying the pictured woman. On December 18, an unknown suspect broke into a victim's car at the Deane Hill Rec Center. The pictured woman has since used the victim's ID and checking account fraudulently in Knoxville and Blount County. She is driving the pictured black Infiniti sedan.

UPDATE: The individual in this picture has been located thanks to East Tennessee Valley Crime Stoppers' Tipsters. 

Knoxville Police investigators are seeking the identity of the pictured woman, who was in the company of a man who was involved in an assault at the Pilot gas station at 2518 N. Broadway. The assault occurred near the parking lot of the Pilot at around 1:30 a.m. on Monday, December 13, and one of the individuals involved is in critical condition at the UT Medical Center. The woman has a cleft lip, and is believed to be homeless and frequent the Pilot where the assault occurred.

They were both wearing Cincinnati Reds hats, with one having dreads and darker skin and the other lighter skin.

Help Identify 2 Thieves

The Knoxville Police Department is asking for help identifying these two individuals who made several attempts to check-in to area hotels using a stolen debit card. On October 11, 2021 our victim’s car was broken into and her wallet containing her debit card was stolen. Shortly thereafter, four unsuccessful attempts at 4 different hotels were made along Merchants Road to get a room.

Do you recognize this individual? On October 31, 2021 he rode a bicycle onto the lot of Rusty Wallace Kia and entered a customer’s vehicle taking her credit card. This individual then went directly to Walmart on Clinton Hwy and used her card.

The license plate on the Jeep was stolen off of a van prior to this suspect continuing his crime spree. On November 1, 2021 between 2:30 am and 4:30 am this person was caught on camera breaking into several vehicles at Hurst Electric located in the 8700 block of Unicorn Drive stealing tools and products valued in excess of $10,000.

Close to $20,000 in Counterfeit Checks Passed

The person in these pictures has cashed close to $20,000 in counterfeit checks over the past few months. On September 9, 2021 he attempted to withdraw $5,000 from a bank account using a bank withdrawal slip and a fake driver’s license and credit card as his identification. A sharp Region’s Bank teller caught on and stopped the transaction from being completed.

CASH Reward Increased in Murder of John-John

Johnkelian “John-John” Mathis, 17 lost his life early Sunday morning on August 8, 2021 during a very chaotic event in Lonsdale where two other people were shot, one of which was severely beaten. Like the Knoxville Police Department and all of Knoxville the East Tennessee Valley Crime Stoppers wants to find the person or persons responsible.
